So while we were in Breckenridge, we got to thinking that we had a couple of weeks before Jake needed to be in school and neither of us were working, so we thought we should escape the AZ heat for a week and head to Idaho to visit some of Jake's family. Luckily Grandma Thurston was willing to give us a place to stay!
Porter and I in the backseat
Jake our driver
We stopped at an A&W along the way and Jake thoroughly enjoyed his rootbeer float
Porter also enjoyed his hotdog
But enjoyed being out of his carseat and running around even more
We didn't think Porter would want to make the road trip in one long drive, so we asked Jake's Uncle Kory and Aunt Fran if we could stop over in St. George with them for a night and they were nice enough to take us in. Porter and Kory became fast friends which was amazing because Porter has never been one of those babies/kids to smile at just anyone and takes a very long time to warm up to people. But, right when we walked in the door, Kory scooped him out of my arms and that was it!
Here they are playing with a hat
and checking out the mantle
and playing with a pack of gum
Back on the road the next day, Porter enjoyed an apple
We stopped in Salt Lake to meet Lindsay for lunch at Toasters...yum yum! It was fun to be able to see her even if it was just a short visit.
Finally we got to Grandma Dody's house!
Here's Porter and Great Grandma T playing outside
Not surprising Porter really loved the balls from the Ladder Ball game
One of the reasons we took the trip was to see Uncle Tanner, who was living with Grandma T and working in Idaho for the summer. Tanner took Porter to see the horse that lives in Grandma's pasture.
Sadly, living in Arizona, Porter doesn't get exposed to much grass, so he tested it out a little here. Not so bad to sit in...
...but he didn't really care for walking in it.
The fair happened to be in town the week we were there, so Dody suggested we hit it up for some dinner, which we were all more than happy to do!
Mmmm...frozen lemonade
After stuffing our faces
But wait...we left room for funnel cake!
We had some great Wii golf and bowling competitions throughout the week.
Grandma concentrating on her shot
Tanner made sure we knew who was the golf master
Jake was a patient teacher for Dody and I. (oh and there might have been a few Dr. Pepper's consumed during the week)
I'm pretty.
